Sound and files

Which audio formats does Discata play?

Discata plays MP3, AAC/M4A, ALAC, FLAC, WAV and AIFF files. You import them from Files or iCloud Drive, and Discata keeps its own copy so your library plays offline on your iPhone. No account is needed to import or play your music.

Does Discata work offline?

Yes, Discata works offline. When you import music from Files or iCloud Drive, Discata keeps its own copy, so your library plays without a connection. There is no account. The internet is used only for ads in the free version and for optional artwork and lyrics look-ups.

Can Discata play Apple Music or Spotify songs?

No. Discata plays music files you own and does not include a streaming catalogue. Downloads from Apple Music or Spotify are protected, so Discata cannot import them. If you have your own MP3, FLAC or other supported files, you can import them from Files or iCloud Drive.

How do I add music to Discata?

Discata plays music files you own. In the Library tab, tap Import music and choose files from the Files app or iCloud Drive. Discata keeps its own copy, so your library still plays offline. Songs from Apple Music or other streaming services cannot be imported, because they are protected.

Does Discata have an equaliser for AirPods and other headphones?

Discata includes a 10-band graphic EQ and a parametric EQ with up to 32 bands. It also has 8,849 AutoEq headphone correction profiles, searchable by headphone model, and Discata remembers your choice for each output. The EQ applies to music played in Discata.

What are the virtual rooms and Orbit?

Discata has six virtual rooms: Control room, Mix room, Studio hall, Chamber, Concert hall and Orchestra hall. They place the sound around you on headphones, and crossfeed is also available. Orbit is an 8D rotating effect. The Sound On switch returns Discata to the original file.

Where do missing artwork and lyrics come from?

First from your files themselves. If you allow online look-ups (About → Online lookups), Discata asks MusicBrainz, the Cover Art Archive and LRCLIB using only the song’s title, artist, album and length.

The sound seems distorted or too quiet. What can I do?

Try switching the sound chain off and on from the Sound tab to compare with the original, lower strong EQ boosts, or pick a different room. The in-app Listening Guide (Sound or About) explains each setting.

Ads, purchases and privacy

Is Discata free?

Yes, Discata is free to download and use. The free version shows one short ad card after about every 7 minutes of listening, only between songs. You can close it after 5 seconds, and the music keeps playing. A one-time purchase of £9.99 in the UK, not a subscription, removes ads permanently.

How do I remove ads in Discata?

Go to About → Ads and privacy → Remove ads forever. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it works on all your devices signed in to the same Apple Account.

I bought ad-free but still see ads. What should I do?

Open About → Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple Account you used to buy. If the purchase is still pending (for example, Ask to Buy), ads stop as soon as it is approved.
